My headlight saga continues
I go on all day, and make a call around 3pm, to double check I can pick the car up at 4pm. Service girl says no problem.
Car was in for 30K mile checkup, passenger mirror rattled, and have both of my headlights replaced.
Around 4 picked up my dad since his A8 was in for service also it turns out. He gives them a call on the way to the dealership to make sure his car was done. His car was broken into a few days ago, and the driver side window needed to be replaced. He calls and they said it will be ready when he gets there.
We arrive and the service girl tells my dad that they ordered the wrong window seal, they ordered one for an A6, not the A8. Lets just say he was far come happy and I think the whole service area heard the conversation.
Then she tells me that they ordered the wrong headlight for me. They ordered a 2001 headlight, rather then a 2000 headlight, and there are diffrences. So this being my 6th or 7th visit they have still not gotten their **** together. I am going to bring this up to the Audi Manager on Monday. This is complete ****. It must be overall stupidity, I mean who can order wrong parts for two diffrent customers, on the same day.
At least my 30K mile checkup and mirror got fixed. Unfortunatly my dad is not quite that lucky.
Sorry you and your father had to be aggrevated.
There are no two current parts for TT's with Xenons. Only one is current and only one is actually in the parts system.
I have one 2000 headlight and one new 2000 headlight. One is blue (the old one) and one is whiter (the new one). They are going to replace both.
Do you have the whiter ones?
My source that told me the Xenons are superceded for all TT's is me and my parts mananger. I saw that you cannot order the 2000 MY part number in the VAG parts system anymore. It won't let you.
I am curious. Open your hood. Does one of your headlights have a stainless steel rectangular box attached to the back and the other has no box but a wire to an assembly mounted just behind and below the headlight on the frame of the car? If so the one is a 2000MY and the other is a 2001MY and your dealer just had a 2000 in stock or something.
I will check on the "box" or the wires tonight hopfully.
So what you are saying is that no matter what they ordered it will work? They have a left and a right headlight in stock (one of them was ordered). They said the one that was ordered was NOT for my car, meaning it was not made for it. You are saying this is not correct? That no matter what they got it will be the right one?

I also think that they can't order a bluer one anymore. When we tried to order the older part number (there was a VIN break in the parts catalog) that matched my VIN it would not let us order it. Fortunately I needed both headlights replaced so I didn't have to do through what you are going through to get a match.
