1000th post for me! Woo Hooo!! (only took 2.5 yrs) =8^)
Welcome to the best auto forum family on the net!
I have a audio related question. My TT had that problem with it's temp sensor bouncing around, oil temp warning sporadically going on-off, blah, blah (saw archive posts about it). The problem was "fixed" a few weeks ago by dealer. I printed out the posts and had them look at the grounding as discussed on forum.
Now I want to change stock sterio head unit to a Alpine indash CD. Will and can that install screw things up? Will/can the dealer legitimately blame the Alpine intall if the sensors go nuts again? Thinking of having Circuit City do it to have the backing of a large installer. Does it matter?
One thing to note: there is what's called a K-wire issue involving the stereo that you need to make sure you have evidence (pic or the like) that is correctly configured when you have a system installed. There has been cases of dealers refusing to hook their diagnostic equipment up to cars with aftermarket stereos. Seems that they risk damaging their diagnostic equipment if the K-wire is stil hooked up. I'll find the links I have on this, and post them.
Don't think it would really matter if it was a large shop (Circut City), or a smaller shop. I would rather have a smaller shop do the work. As long as you know they are compitent. Were are you at? Perhaps some here would have a shop to suggest.
