Any advise for newbies like me?

Already made a mistake by repeating a post... Doh! My first new rule: "Don't drink and post."

thanks for the welcome and suggestions... yes, wheels need more cleaning... (or better photo retouching)

I have a audio related question. My TT had that problem with it's temp sensor bouncing around, oil temp warning sporadically going on-off, blah, blah (saw archive posts about it). The problem was "fixed" a few weeks ago by dealer. I printed out the posts and had them look at the grounding as discussed on forum.

Now I want to change stock sterio head unit to a Alpine indash CD. Will and can that install screw things up? Will/can the dealer legitimately blame the Alpine intall if the sensors go nuts again? Thinking of having Circuit City do it to have the backing of a large installer. Does it matter?

Default First thing I did when I took delivery of the TT was to pull every fuse, one by one, and replace

them. Back then there was alot of talk regarding electrical problems, and most were solved by R&Ring fuse numbers 11 & 15. Also, the instrument cluster wiring was/is not supported correctly. Haven't had any problems re: electrical probs., but if I were to have, once my stereo is installed, I wouldn't be suprised if they blamed it on aftermarket equipment.
One thing to note: there is what's called a K-wire issue involving the stereo that you need to make sure you have evidence (pic or the like) that is correctly configured when you have a system installed. There has been cases of dealers refusing to hook their diagnostic equipment up to cars with aftermarket stereos. Seems that they risk damaging their diagnostic equipment if the K-wire is stil hooked up. I'll find the links I have on this, and post them.
Don't think it would really matter if it was a large shop (Circut City), or a smaller shop. I would rather have a smaller shop do the work. As long as you know they are compitent. Were are you at? Perhaps some here would have a shop to suggest.
HTH, Jack

Default Get your stereo . . . don't worry about the dealer.

I have a full custom stereo and have had my cluster replaced once and 7 Fuel Sending Units installed. It was never even an issue. If they start that with you, just make a few phone calls to SEMA, Alpine and Circuit City. Audi will back down. They can't prevent someone from replacing a radio! The radio, no matter what Audi might want to say is not an integral part of the electronics in this car.
