OT: Home Theater: The Main Attraction
Well, the day arrived. The TV was delivered today and after some Thai food and about 2 hours, we had it up and running with all speakers setup. All I can say is that it is f&%#(ing amazing. Turned off all the lights... played the THX sound and watched The Grinch, parts of The Matrix and MI2 and it was just fantastic. I haven't messed with the settings yet for alignment and such but it just looks superb anyhow.
I need some more component and opticals to hookup the PS2 and Satellite but otherwise I am all set.
Do I really need a "sub kit" to hookup the sub or can I use the AV's that I am using right now? They sound ok... the came with the satellite and I can't really imagine a difference... should I get special cabels for the sub?

I had to get a special sub cable, that also had an attachment to go from dual output to single.
ALSO, remember that the optical cable for the PS2 is not a normal one. It looks normal, but they moved the "notch" to the other side, so you have to buy the Monster PS2 audio and Component cable. I did, I think it was around $60 total.

unless you have very large front speakers with buit-in subs...
you should get a seperate subwoofer -- you'll find a big improvement in your entire system (not only will you get the lower frequencies with the sub, but your other speakers will play more cleanly if they don't have to try to produce low frequencies they can't really get to).
also, you should have a small amount of light in your home theater...movement from light-to-dark scenes on your tv will cause your pupils to dilate and then shrink -- and make your eyes "tired"...just a small light that doesn't reflect on the screen is all you need to prevent that.
