Default I'm about to use a hydraulic jack to put M-2s on my car but

I'm nervous that I might cause some damage when I lift the car.
Is there anything about which I should be very careful? I know to be careful of the brake cable(line?) in the back, but are there any other
things to avoid?
Many thanks.

Default The tire shop used a hydralic lift on my car, and I heard a loud CRRACCKK!!!

I was crapping in my pants. But once they lowered the car, it was OK. I think they just hit the plastic boundary under the car.

So they had to use manual jacks to lift the car. Pain in the butt. Are the sideskirts of the TT really that weak?

Default Just make certain you have a piece of wood in the lift's cup . . .

then rest the rubber donut that is the jacking point on this piece of wood. If you don't do this the donut will either pop or you will damage the underside of the car.

Make certain the car is in gear, emergency brake is on and you "break the bolts" before lifting the car off the ground.

Default YES! You never jack the car with the "side skirts". Only the factory jack

is to be used in the designated areas for that.

Sounds like you went to an idiot to mount your tires. That part of ANY car is not designed to support the weight of the car. That is what jacking points are for.

Have you crawled under and looked for the 4 damage points they caused on the car? Some serious dents I am certain.

Default Re: Larry - why the wood if you put the jack in the right (4) places

Im planning to do it one at a time tommorrow using hte 2 3/4 ton jack I bought. Isnt the head of the jack SUPPOSED to go into the 4 rubber areas under the car ?

Default Depends on the style of your jack.....>>

Many garage style jacks have a "Cup" with 4 raised lugs. As the rubber donut compresses, the lugs will come in contact with sheet metal. If you need jack pads, see my link below!

No damage from what I can see. But maybe I just don't want to know.
