Default If you would hate to see one of the cleanest MK1 Scirocco's around..DONT CLICK!

met up with this guy named Paul yesterday from VWVortex and he brought one of his toys along.

Man would I love a car like this.. Build up an old A1 Cabriolet with a K04 upgraded 1.8T and be happy with a very fast 250ish hp in a 2200 lbs vehicle....WHEW!! fuggedabout even thinking of a Stage 3 in one of these early VW's =)....alright I thought about it =)

Anyway, this 'Rocco was one of the cleanest I have seen!

Default very nice car, but the next time you meet up with him . . .

tell him he is going to either kill himself or paralyze himself if he were to ever get into an accident while wearing those seatbelts! The angle of the shoulder straps is well over the maximum 45* angle that can cause spinal compression.

That angle is very close to the TT's 27-30* angle is you were to use the rear seatbelt anchor points.

In my MkI GTI I attached the belts to the cage I had in the car, he should do the same, especially since he has the cage already installed.

If you know this guy, contact him and let him know.

Default I need to scan some of my pics of mine . ..

I had it for 23 months, raced it I think for 19 of those months! lol I loved that car. To this day I wish I still had it. I traded it in for my truck that I needed to tow my race car that I had to get. I was getting too serious with the racing and my GTI was my daily driver. lol

Car had just shy of 60,000 when I traded it in. A little over 10,000 was on the track. Great car. I need to get another GTI.

I need to scan mine, or attempt Digi pic of them. I loved it and the blue was awesome, very clean and of course, analy cleaned!

I'd love to get a MK1 over here as a daily driver, they run forever!

I am also checking out a 25k 84 UrQ in white. I know they are more expensive to run but worth it for the class, then the wife can have the TTR whilst I prepare the Coupe

Default Mine was arrest me red . . . of course! lol

I actually had two of them. A 1987 8 Valve, which I had for 11 months, then I got a 1988 16V. My bro-in-law had the first even Golf sold in NY State! It was a 1985, he bought it sight unseen. He had to wait 2 weeks for the truck to deliver it. It was one of the first sold. He got rid of it with almost 200,000 on the clock!

I never had a single mechanical problem with the 1988 version. The '87 was a nightmare. It leaked like a sieve.

Default wanna know what I still have from that car?

The original brochures. I think I have 3 or 4 of them. I also have a brand new badge, still sealed in the platic bag, along with the broken badge from the car. lol

My worst weekend with the 16V was a race weekend up in Lime Rock Park, in CT. I got 3 speeding tickets in 2 days! The same cop all 3 times. Thanks goodness it was all in CT. He could not stop laughing at me. At the time radar detectors were illegal in the state and my Escort wss not working very well from the passenger seat. lol

I topped that car out at 143mph on Police radar, on my way to VT to go skiing.
