Am I: a) crazy, b) typical, c) inventive, d) desperate? [long narrative inside]
As some of you know, I recently moved to an apartment building (with no hose) from a house (with a hose). I'm extremely particular about my car washing routine, which was fine until we moved.
I pinged the forum last week for the whereabouts of a local high-pressure, self-wash place. As always, I got the answer I needed. I packed my car wash supplies in a bucket, and off I went. I deposited $2 in quarters, stood 5' away from the car to minimize the jet stream (aka "sandblasting) effect, and rinsed. Woops, I need to insert more quarters.
By the time I felt like I had rinsed the TT with enough water, a line was forming behind me (a little honking, too--I love that). I then filled my bucket with P21S carwash, and tried to fill the bucket with the jet stream--not an easy task. Half of it ended up on me (I love the apple scent, so it's no big deal). More honking, but that's fine.
More quarters--up to $8 by now. I started washing the car with my synthetic wool mitt in my typical front-of-the-car-to-the-back-of-the-car motion, starting with the roof. By the time I got to the lower half of the car, I started seeing a little too much filth on the mitt. More honking. Okay, screw it. That's it. I'm rinsing and then I'm outta here. $2 "down the drain" later, I left. No drying, as I won't dry a dirty car.
I was left with water spots and despair galore for about a week . . .
until I found my solution:

That's right, an OSH Garden Sprayer ($15 or so) and several water refill trips up & down the elevator.
Pretty decent flow, wouldn't you say? Notice the "mods" I performed on the tip of the spray nozzle consisting of heat-shrink tubing on the metal surface (prevents scratches from accidental contact):

My trusty P21S drying towel (notice the front-of-the-car-to-the-back-of-the-car motion):

And I'm done ('like the red rotors?):

Only took 2.5 hours, too!
