Default Alarm goes off for NO reason... constantly.

I have had problems with the alarm from day one. While parked in my locked detached garage, the alarm will go off, reset, and usually... go off again. There is no sound or motion that could possibly trigger the alarm, unless you consider the sound of the engine block cooling down.

Often, I return to the car and the lights are flashing (no horn). I would turn off the motion sensor, but the switch doesn't work half the time (or at least it doesn't light up).

The dealer had dropped the sensitivity to 80% and it still happened. Now the dealer dropped it to 60% and it still happens.

I have searched this forum, but nobody seems to have similair troubles. I plan on videotaping my parked car tommorow so that I have evidence to prove my sanity as I am beginning to doubt it myself.

Default You are not alone. Many of us, me especially, have had similar issues.

Make sure your driver's door is open when engaging the interior sensor button. That is the only thing you can do to disable the interior sensor. Works for me all the time and I am in the habit of opening the door, hitting the button and exiting every time I park at home.

Aside from getting inside to finding the wiring, which I can't help you with, its about the only thing you can do.

Default I've had similar problems too, and now I just have asked the receptionist at my work not to

bother calling me anymore when it goes off. I told her it's insured, and I don't give a crap anymore. I've been to two Audi dealerships and they've both told me they cannot totally disable the alarm, as I have requested ( I just want the doors to lock). They've set the alarm to 50%, but I know if there is a decent rain or a loud clap of thunder, the alarm will go off. I also had a 180 coupe, and that alarm NEVER went off. I wish ya' luck.

Default I guess I'm lucky that mine seems to work. Also some advice...

Just like Wendy said, you MUST have the driver door OPEN before you hit the disable button for the motion sensor. The little light on the button will glow red to confirm that you can exit the car and lock it without arming the motion sensor.

After reading some complaints about this "feature" a week ago, I spent some time in my garage experimenting with the motion sensor. If I armed our car, I could beat on the soft top and the rear window glass and never set the alarm off. I could reach in the open side windows of the TTR and pet the seat backs on either the driver or passenger side without setting it off. But if I tried to reach to the seat bottom thru the open side window that would set it off every time. If I came even close to touching the steering wheel or the glove box that would set it off. I even sat in the car with the motion sensor armed and my hands in my lap. I found I could reach slowly to open and close the stereo cover but then moving my head even an inch would set it off.

The only trouble I have found with our TTR's interior motion sensor is that if the sensor is set and the windows are open and it is a very windy day the alarm will go off. It seems to be sensitive to wind currents in the cabin. I also own an A4 Avant and I find that it is also sensitive to wind because if the sunroof is open or even tilted it will eventually lead to the alarm sounding if the wind is blowing.

I think Audi was wise to delete the motion sensor from the most recently built TT since it has turned out to be such an unreliable feature for most.
