Default OT: Marantz TV's, they have a new 60+ inch TV that is looking AMAZING

I am looking for family on this one, but I have heard amazing things. Anyone have any thoughts about Marantz the company or their previous TV's. They run close to $5500+ depending on the size. They had one next to a Pioneer Elite, and I am sorry but this Marantz was awsome, even next to the Pioneer. The Pioneer was bigger, since the one one they had was a 55".

I am curious as to peoples feelings about the company itself, and if they have every heard anything about the TV's. They are a small brand and only make high end stuff.

I would think the TT intro videotape would look great on that TV. ;-)

Default Marantz was one of the cornerstone companies of early high end audio. In fact,

some of their equipment is collectible, like the legendary Model 9 amplifiers. They sold new for around $600 in 1964. A pair in good condition today will fetch you $7000-8000.

Marantz recently has made some excellent home theater equipment. They have a reputation for building good stuff that doesn't cost much, and once in a while, they come out with a statement piece.

One thing though: Marantz has never been in the TV biz. It's quite possible their projection TV is a rebadged unit made by someone else. They also may have modified an existing unit and marketed it under their name. That happens quite a bit in the audio biz, less in video.

Default Is this a widescreen? Have you looked at the Sony models?

I currently have a 57" XBR Sony widescreen and I'm loving it. If you are an audio/video enthusiast, which through reading previous posts, you sound like you are, you should definitely go with a widescreen. DVDs are SOO much cooler. BTW, I thought your Tivo trick with the hard drives was really cool. It's too bad I already have the 60hour one or else, that would have been a great way to double what I have now and still be cheaper. Anyways, good luck.

Default I'm on my second Marantz receiver and will probably buy another when the time comes.

The price / performance can't be beat IMO.

I believe this TV is widescreen, I don't think anyone I know would look at anything else
