are all balanced out. I just had an alignment done when my car was repaired two weeks ago. In the accident, the right front casing was slightly bent, and that side seems the most bouncy. I'm in with John in the AWE group buy. However, I'm wondering if the possible worn shocks may harm other parts of the suspension? When my car was repaired, Audi said that everything was in alignment and that my 19" Sportecs had taken most of the blow. (By the way, the two that were too damaged to repair.) Could the wieght of the wheels increase the bounciness? My GT3s are about the same weight as the stock 17", I think. I guess if the shocks are unable to accomodate the unsprung weight, it would make it more bouncy.

Another question, the insurance "salvaged" the two damage rims, as well as taking the two good ones. I replaced them with the GT3's. Does that sound right? I thought I was able to keep all the rims, even the damaged ones?

Would like to hear people thoughts on the two matter.

Thanks!

Default I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong...

I think if you push down on the car and let go, and it bounces more than once or twice, you need new shocks. Make sure you press down on a stucturally sound part of the car...Not an outer-body panel. One forum member said he dented a part when he pushed down...Oops.

As for getting your old rims, I think that if the insurance company pays for replacements, they are allowed to keep the old ones...I'm not entirely sure about that one. Usually they let you keep the broken stuff, though...Not sure what they would want two bent rims for.

I wanted the two good ones, I'd buy two more to have an extra set, just in case I needed a repair

Default Your shocks ARE dead.....>>>

Got more than 5K miles on the car? Those 19" Sportecs were HEAVY. 18's are 29 lbs, 19's must be a few lbs more. Yes, this contributed to the shocks wearing out which were not very good to begin with. By the way, the old wives method of pushing down on the car and seeing how many times it rebounds cannot really be applied to stiffly sprung cars. Trust your Buttmeter. If it feels bad, it is........

Default Yeah, I could understand why you would want the 2 good ones...

...Just couldn't figure out what the insurance company wanted them for. It's not like they can sell them, right?
