Default Resale Value.....

The latest Fortune magazine dubs the Audi TT Roadster an instant classic....doesn't seem to be helping the resale value! I've been trying to sell my car and am finding little to no interest. I have a an early model 2001 TT Roadster Quattro, black/black/gray, every option except nav in immaculate shape with 15,000 miles. Aftermarket 18 x 8.5 wheels/tires and H&R Springs. I have listed the car at $34,500. Isn't this a fair price? Is this just a case of a soft economy or is there just a weak aftermarket for the TT?!?! Any ideas?!?!

That's pretty high price, considering Audi resale value. You can get a new one for about 38,000 now.

Default Not sure what part of the country that is....

I've seen used TTs listed by dealers here in SoCal for $36k+.

Default Last August (when I was selling mine), roadsters with BB interior and 5K miles were going for .....

what you're asking and slightly lower ($34K-34.5K). I would say that the market has definitely softened since then, PLUS the 2002s came out, plus yours has significantly more mileage. If you really want to sell it, you'll need to lower your price. (IMHO)

Oh, yeah, forgot the other 'plus' .... Dealers are selling new ones at discounts now.

Default aftermarket products tend to lower the value of the car

people don't want to buy moded cars.. and after 15k miles, i wouldn't expect that much return.. but i don't know what the sticker is for a new TT225

Default No, that's way high...

Edmunds puts private resale at around $32,500, but given current deals on new vehicles plus financing incentives (Audi doesn't have 0% but I think it's 1.9% or so), the value of all used cars has dropped precipitously.

Add the fact that aftermarket springs means no suspension warranty, and they actually reduce the value of the car somewhat...

I suspect you won't be able to get more than $30K or so for it, if that...

You always have to take ~ 10-15% off a dealer's used price to get the private party used price...

Default Doesn't make sense....

I've had two different dealerships offer me $31k+ as a trade-in.

Default You're the one who asked the question, but you don't like the answers you're getting.....

"I've been trying to sell my car and am finding little to no interest." Answer the question for yourself then. Why isn't your car selling?
