OT: So, are people in your area saying the Osama tape is a fake?
I was in class tonight and lots of folks were saying it was a "Wag the Dog" kind of tape instead of legit.
I've not paid any attention to it, and haven't seen it.
What do you guys think?

I am really amazed at the cynicism...
There's really nothing to gain by releasing a doctored tape of any kind. Those who don't agree with the war by now never will, no matter what "proof" may be offered, and those who do agree with it haven't stopped supporting it...
As I mentioned before, BinLaden could go on Larry King Live and there would be those who would say it was either an imposter or there were lots of military off-camera with M16s waiting to take off his head if he misspoke.
I wonder if all these <i>Wag the Dog</i> cynics noted the much closer parallel of Clinton ordering the bombing what turned out to be a pharmaceutical factory after all on the night before his impeachment hearings were due to begin...

Who cares if it's fake ? We have three thousand + dead here in NYC...
Our elected officials have told us he & his organization are responsible. I don't see why the powers that be would lie about this. I have as much contempt & distrust of the media as anyone.Sooner or later we have to believe the people in government are doing the right thing.They have kids too. All this second guessing crap & playing devil's advocate slows the process.I want that pri*cks head on a stick. NOW!

The damage to their credibility if it was discovered to be a hoax would be catastrophic. Nobody in their right mind would authorize something like that. On the contrary, I would think that they examined the tape very closely, and were careful with the translation, to ensure that its authenticity could not be questioned by reasonable people.

I doubt the tape is fake.
simply because the tape was released for the world to see. If it was fake and someone found out that it was, it would be disastrous credibility wise for the U.S. Movie is one thing... but this is reality.
