Default iPod in a TT?

Ok... so this might be just a little OT but having recently picked up an iPod (the new Apple hard drive based MP3 Player) I was wondering if anyone else has had success with playing it in a TT?

Default My friend has one and it connects right into the tape player...

You just get your basic car CD kit and plug it into the headphone jack.

Default I posted yesterday on the S4 forum that I was having my iPod installed in my car...

basically, I am getting a 1/8" female mini jack installed somewhere near or on the stock Symphony bezel (it can be located anywhere, really), and a female firewire jack that supplies power to the iPod while in the car (also recharges it).

I've been searching for about a month on a competent stereo installer, and finally found a high-end one that has done 6 of those iPod installations. Cost is going to be $275.

I have an appointment setup for next week (saturday), and I'll take pictures if I can.

Since you are in NY, you may try calling Paris Audio in Beverly Hills to get specifics.

A fellow audiworld poster who works at Apple sent me the charging pin location on the Firewire jack. Here it is:

From Steve Bollinger:

Looking into a plug, with the cable turned such that it looked like a 3 story house (tent roof at top), the power is on bottom floor on the left. It would be the bottom right looking into a jack. The ground is on the opposite side, that is on the bottom floor on the right on a plug, bottom on the left on a jack. The shield of the plug/jack should also be grounded and can be connected directly to the other ground. The only risk to that would be to introduce noise into the system. I don't think you will have the problem.

Default Do you have a CD Changer?

If you do, you can create an A/B switch, that provides line-level inputs to the Head Unit.

If not, try this link to a Head Unit adapter.

-Item:
AUDI 1998+ AUX INPUT ADAPTER
-Summary:
Aux input adapter for 1998+ AUDI radios without CD changer
and a free CD changer port. Direct AUX input via 2 RCA stereo
jacks.

-Details:
Requirements:
Requires a free cd changer port. If you have a CD changer
connected or a in dash cd changer from the factory which uses the
CD changer port, this adapter will not work.
This adapter takes sound directly (stereo) via 2 RCA jacks and
feeds it directly into the car stereo (just switch to CD changer mode
- See factory manual) and voila, direct input sound.

Great for XM radio connections, MP3 players, in car entertainment
video feeds, etc.
Connects at factory prewired changer cable connection (in trunk),
13 pin round din connector.
$69.95

I have this on order, and it's supposed to be here Tuesday.
I'll let you all know how it works.<ul><li><a href="http://store.autotoys.com/cgi-bin/wfp53024.storefront/3c38b0de0158cc4c2750d8f5a5060683/Product/View/AUDIAUXMP3">Head Unit Adapter</a></li></ul>

Default yeah.. almost as bad as the FM stations I get around here .. but its real convenient as the last

time I tore into the rear speaker to poke around at the bose amp... I marred up the panel. It was a minor boo boo but still noticable enough to serve as a reminder to take it easy when tearing into my TT. If you've had better luck than me tearing into your panels.. you might want to try Jeff Pipes setup.
