Default Front license plate mounting?

I just moved from Michigan to Chicago, so now I have to put on a front plate. I dug out the mount yesterday, but can't figure out how it goes on. Anyone know how to do this?

I took the panel off the front bumper, but don't see how the mount attaches. I have the screws for the plate, and some nail/rivet-looking things. I only have three of these (must have lost one somewhere). Will I be OK if I use just three, or do I absolutely have to have four?

Trying to avoid making a trip to the dealer...

I think you have to drill holes in the front bumper. Makes me sad to even think about it.

Default Welcome to Chicago! I don't have a front plate and haven't had a problem...spare the TT of the

dental work and keep the front clean.

Very few of us in Chicago have front plates. Just keep it off. And go Big Ten!

Default Don't do it!!!!!!!!!!! I'm in Chicago and I had the dealer where I bought mine in Mass. actually...

remove the front mount and give me a new one...I have had the car in Chicago, downtown, where I live and work for a year, and I have not been stopped and that's going down State St where they have cops checking for expired tags and little stuff...My other car I have had for 6 years downtown with a Florida Gator front plate in the front mount instead of the license plate and I have only had one officer pick up on it and that was out by Sandwich, IL with a podunk town sheriff looking for people to pull over from the big city and he just gave me a warning and a lecture. And
yes you have to punch or drill the holes in the front panel piece you removed to atach the bracket...I plan on playing dumb if I get stopped and say I didn't know how to do it and I bought the car out of state, I keep the front plates for both cars in the trunk or back so I can pull it out, and I say I moved from Florida and didn't know... The only thing I have ever been ticketed for is not having my city sticker on the windsheild on either car, and that was just once that I was noticed...I don't even want stickers on my cars.
