Question about finding 2nd nail in tire...Please help!

Question about finding 2nd nail in tire...Please help!

I had a nail removed last week. Tire is going flat, again. I thought maybe the plug failed but I just noticed another nail!

Can I plug this hole or do I need to consider buying a new tire? Should I go to the Audi dealer or some place like Autotire?

I had two big nails in the 1st week that I had my new Corvette. I had them both patched from the inside and never had a problem.

Take it to a competent tire shop.

I hope you are using the term "plug" loosely . . .

you NEVER plug a performance tire! You ALWAYS patch it from the inside. This is the only way to properly repair a tire.

Unfortunately for me, the clowns at the Audi Dealership "plugged" the tire and charged me more than it would cost to patch it. Talk about shoddy work! I just got back from a tire place that patched the 2nd nail hole. They said the plug should hold ok.

What really makes me angry is that I'm pretty sure I got the nail from the Audi dealership which is under construction! To top it off, the Audi service guy hinted I may need a new tire. The Autotire guy said that was nonsense. I sure hope Audi sends me a survey about my 5000 check-up!

you should have had the plug removed and patched the tire.

Too late now, but I would not exceed the speed limit by very much until you either patch or replace that tire.

Plugs are not designed to hold under extreme conditions.

Larry - are you comfortable with patches? I've got a nail in my summers....

and want to patch it but didn't know about the safety factor. What's your opinion?

FYI - I need to replace the tires in 5 -10k, but don't want to drive 55 that whole time.
