Pimps take note, a solid DIY post for a hot winter hookup - even for a jew! (picture intense)
I started with a second set of 6 spoke wheels that were in pretty good shape except for a couple scratches and one tire iron gouge. Thanks MisterP for that hookup!
I cleaned them well, removing as much dirt as I could. I then spent the next weeks sanding them until my hands hurt or I was tired of spending all day in the basement...this was the worst part of the process.

I left the middle part of the wheel unsanded.

I taped off the outside of the wheel

Some tape on the inside.

The paint I ordered from Germany. It had the most controlled and consistent nozzle for a disposable spray can ever! It is supposedly made for wheels and shouldn't chip. We'll see. I was going to get them professionally stripped and powdercoated but that was going to be a small fortune...this should work for a few years.

I only ended up using 2 and half cans and that's with 15 light coats! I also did not end up spraying clear as the black was glossy enough.

I found a lady checking them out even before I could get them on the car...A real chick magnet.

This picture really shows the texture produced by the paint...subtle be definitely phatty.
I mounted the tires and put in the center caps. It started to snow just as I finished so I took the road warrior to a lot to do some celebration doughnuts.

Also notice the ugly one wiper to complete my winter look.

These pictures don't do my car justice. I'll have to clean it up and take some better ones soon but overall I'm very happy with the look. Now I just need to get the Audi roof rack to complete the winter getup. Anyone want to sell me one? :-)
Goals of the project:
Produce a phatty custom look that says winter warrior.
Have both a winter and summer setup that can clear stoptechs
Why did you wear a yarmulka to cover your head when painting? Or was this worn to show Joel? lol
Pop the hood, use a flat head to pop off the caps at the base of the wiper arms. Then use a 13mm to take of the lock nut. Then pull the arm off and reposition it up and put it back. The driver side arm was removed and I just reinstalled the same hardware. Does that help?
