Went to the body shop today >>
Recap - I hit a curb on an Interstate entrance ramp a few weeks ago. The shop had to replace two wheels and do some work on the front suspension. Now we're just waiting for a clamp (that clamps on the CV boot) and then the car will be ready. Probably tomorrow.
Anyway, they also replaced the brake pads since there was rotor damage on the driver side front rotor. I had EBC greenstuff on there and now have OEM again. A minor point but nothing that I will argue. As I was laying in bed a minute ago I could not remember seeing the wire clip that fastens to the front caliper. I'll check again before picking up the car tomorrow.
If that clip is gone then does that render the car undrivable? If so, does the Audi parts department stock that part? This may be for naught since the clip is probably sitting right there.
The pad may make some extra squealing noise, but it's not really going anywhere.
The spring clip just puts a bit more tension on the floating caliper part, that's all.
The pad can't come out.
The spring is weged in the caliper, and then it has tension on the caliper bracket.
It doesn't touch the pad at all.
