Does Anyone here have the Stratmosphere Headliner?
Anyone????
Thanks,
Jack
My dealer sales guy loves it. Said too, Audi should have made it standard.
(I'll bet the A4 Cabrio has it.)
It does reduce the cabin noise, but not so much from the rear, because of the large (comparably) rear window.
Through two relativley mild winters here in Frostbite Falls, I have not really noticed much difference in it retaining any heat, or helping that much in summer either.
It's a bitch to install. Really.
The hardest part is removing the plastic cover on the front of the roadster top, to then stretch the fabric in place, to add back in the retaining metal strip.
If the top latch handle could be removed easily, then this plastic cover would come off.
This would greatly aid in the installation.
As it was, I figured out a way to rotate this piece nearly 45 degrees, to aid in this installation.
You can do it yourself, but the last stage may be easier if you have some help.
Of course, I wish it were a bit less expensive. I think more in the $250-300 range would have been a better price-point.
The Boxster S last year, and now all Boxsters are coming with this. Audi should have also. Perhaps next year.
But, in my opinion, I think it has greatly lowered the outside noise level and it seems to keep the interior warmer.
I was fortunate to buy my headliner from someone who sold their TT before they installed it ( thanks Ellen), so the price was lower.
Check for postings here and watch Ebay.
I installed it myself. A few areas were a pain, but not impossible. Don't try to rush the install and you will be satisfied.
Good Luck !
But I am VERY pleased with the end result.
Jeff, you mentioned the fit around the window, have you tried readjusting the tabs on the outside of the liner where it fits under the plastic cap ? It seemed to help some for me, and I plan to try a further adjustment.
