Default TT high speed accidents

Hi, I am doing a research essay on engineering failures...and I would like to get some information on the high speed flip overs of the Audi TT's before the wing is attached to them. Can you guys please give me some detailed info, some scanned articles or other useful links regarding this topic? Thanks a lot!!!

Those incidents were driver error.

Default Not a great example of an engineering failure as the recall was initiated.....

mainly as a result of an over-litigious society rather than an actual fault of the vehicle itself.

The cars supposedly became light in the rear at high speeds(130 or so) and then during an abrupt lane change maneuver(stupid to do at 130), the tail would step sideways and the car would come around. If you're doing an essay on engineering failures, this would be a hard one to nail. If you look at the lift numbers of the TT compared with other vehicles in its class(SLK, Boxster, S2000), the significant differences are negligable.

You want a good one, try for the Firestone/Ford Explorer snafu. But then again, there's some hard data showing how stable these vehicles are even during rapid decompression of a front tire(blowout).

Maybe go back to Pinto gas tanks.......that was a good one.

Default Therer were zero incidents in North America. As a study in marketing, I recommend it

but engineering failure? Dry well. And much of the material is going to be in German. Look for German newspaper websites.

Default Listen to these folks. Do the research yourself. Not only will you learn...

about the subject, you'll learn something about how to do research. Google is a great place to start.

Default Absolutely agree with below comments BUT maybe of interest would be Mercedes A class and moose test.

really...in the Scandinavian countrys a vehicle must pass what is commonly know as the 'moose test' which really is an abrupt accident avoidence maneuver...aka swerving left or right to avoid hitting a moose which is a rather common automotive obstacle in those countrys. Well after much fanfare by Mercedes about the development of the new A class vehicle and all of its safety features, when went in for the 'moose test' it failed...much embarassing MB. Went on a fastrack fix and came up with solutions and on second try passed the test. You might find this an interesting study...
