Default TT-East and usage of PayPal for registration....

wanted to emphasize a couple issues concerning using PayPal. First, if you are having difficulty using PayPal you should check with them...they have made several policy/procedure changes to how accounts work that maybe impacting you. In checking the registrations early this morning, 23 registrants have successfully used PayPal while TT-East organizers know of about 8 or so that are having problems. TT-East has not placed any restrictions on our PayPal account.
We will accept payment by check by sending to the noted PO Box address and if you are registered feel comfortable knowing that by sending a check via 'snail mail' the extra time for the mailing does NOT effect your registration options...you are in with whatever registration level and options you selected. All registrants will receive email confirmation of receipt of checks and that registration is complete.

TT-East Ambassador aplogizes for the problems with PayPal, but we did not know of some of the policy changes that they [PayPaly] implement on personal user accounts.

On to Asheville!

Default Very true... read an interesting article in a banking industry rag...

about PayPal. Great business model after many failed starts by other companies. The rate of return on each transaction is significantly greater when debits to checking accounts are used as there are currently no fee's assessed by banking institutions for debits. Credit Card companies charge a percentage (although a VERY low rate was negotiated by PayPal) and therefore, PayPay gets charged, as do other businesses, eating up revenue along the way. Interestingly, PayPal NEEDS to coddle the banking industry in order to ensure that systems are able to interact - a fine line when you are quickly becoming a banking mechanism that operates 'outside' of the traditional banking system.

Banks themselves are worried. They have even bought into PayPal in some cases to ensure they have a foot in the door. With something like a 2x transaction increase every 3 months, PayPal is set to change banking and commerce - the internet has proven one thing... Traditional interaction between buyers and sellers can quickly become profitable for those who can work between the two market forces. E-Bay and PayPal have proven that you need not invent a better mousetrap in the physical sense...defining a new route to get the mouse to the mousetrap is profitable enough and involves less capital. Hmmmm, profit and low capital costs... two very good things.
