They are directional. I believe they should look like...
If you are looking at the driver's side front wheel, the hole pattern should look like

No...I don't think Ralf is around anymore...
After some discussion here on the forum and at the install party for Nancy's grill, we decided that performance/safety was not going to be an issue.
I took a very close look at the rotors and the venting did not seem to be directional...so I just slap them on. Only the keen observer notices anything screwy about the drill patterns.
After one heavy braking session, I checked the temperature of the rear rotors by placing my hand into the rear wheels (I know very scientific), and didn't notice a difference.

Right, this is the pattern from the outer edge of the rotor, both sides.
On the drivers side, the outside of the rotor is the leading "curve" of holes.

Directional for the side, if you have the same pattern you have to of the same side
