Default Does a chip mod void the warranty?

I would love to upgrade to a new chip mod. I have been told many different things about these mods and the warranty. I would love to hear the bottom line from someone who knows. Does it void the audi warranty? Has anyone had a problem with Audi over this? How was it resolved?

Thanks,

Richard (225 coupe, amulet)

Default popping the hood voids the warranty on the engine...

=)

in all seriousness, basically anything you do to your car voids the warranty. changing the ECU most certainly does. but most Audi tech's will tell you its a dont-ask-dont-tell policy. it doesnt void your warranty unless something goes wrong with your car, and they dont want to have to pay for it.

Default Your best bet is to get 2 ecu's and swap the stock one back in when you go to the dealer.Also...

clear all codes with a Vag before you go so there is no evidence of the chip

Default it voids the warranty on the engine.

so if you have a suspension problem or another problem unrelated to the electronics and engine, you're still covered. At least that's what my serviceman says :-)

Default My God, Yes it does!!

Whatever, and I mean whatever, you did not purchase with the car causes something to fail, Audi WILL NOT honor the warranty.

the only time you need a warranty is wehn something goes wrong. If something does happen to go south, and you ahve a chip on the car AND the chip is part or parcel of the problem....forget it! Audi will NOT be helo liable.

It's ok as long as you use OEM water obtained from your dealer...
