Oh-oh. Is a recirculation valve the same thing as a diverter valve?

Oh-oh. Is a recirculation valve the same thing as a diverter valve?

UPS just delivered the upgrade kit to the supercharger on the other car, and one of the parts is a Bosch recirc valve. It looked disturbingly familiar. I went down to the basement to compare it to the stock DV sitting in its box, and LO and behold, the 2 parts look EXACTLY the same. : (

yes. it has tons of different names...

diverter valve, recirculation valve, recycler valve, bypass valve...

<sigh> Thanks for the info. Looks like ...

1. I'll be buying another Forge DV at Asheville after all--but for the VW!!!! and 2. I can see the TT gods and the Corrado gods laughing and high-fiving each other.

is that diverter a common problem that needs to be replaced??

hey is that diverter thing a common problem, jus wonderin since i thought i read about em on here before about a power loss if it has gone bad??

Yes, very common. Usually failed within 5K miles. Not sure about the latest versions.

symptoms of a bad valve????

any symptoms i can look for??? seems to still pull hard?
i know it had something to do with the sound letting off the gas. mine makes the blowoff noise but it is a fluttering whoosh instead of just a plain whoosh?(excuse the terminology)

Actually, LarryTT (and others) are the dv experts, but be suspicious if you hear ...

a honking noise, or a very loud whoosh when you back off the throttle. Also a very noticable lack of power when you try to accelerate, especially after hard acceleration, backing off, then trying to accelerate again. At least, those were my symptoms, other people may have had others. Oh and the problem will be hardly noticable and intermittent at first, then continue to get worse until it's bad enough to throw a fault code. I had mine replaced with a Forge, been happy with it, and the dealer hasn't said anything. (Although someone curious tried playing with it, but that's another story.)
