Help! Best defense against Laser?
Just got caught by laser. I had a V1 (1st generation from early 1990s) which detected the signal but obviously it was too late. $200 ticket.
Anyone know anything about other measures to defend against laser. Besides driving slower, should I upgrade my V1 (laser detection is supposedly better on most recent generation), look into a license plate cover (I've heard that these are not very good), or consider a something like a Lidatek Echo or similar diffuser product.

Right... and you happen to be in the vicinity of the bouncing light beams
Still, I think this is more luck than the detector. In this situation, I typically see a cop or other brake lights before the detector goes off.

With all detectors, all laser warning does is tell you "slow down so the officer can catch up..."
And write you your ticket.
Really, the only thing "laser" detection is good for is to hope to catch some backscatter and warn you if the cop is zapping cars ahead of you in traffic...

OtoH, it DOES tell me I'm nearing the red neon on my local Fuddrucker's...
Went out to dinner and when I turned into the parking lot the laser warning started going nuts - red neon.
First time I've ever heard it go off for laser, though, so now at least I know what the "you've just been nailed" signal sounds like... ;-)
