Basslink Installed...slight dilemma..(long)...
First a little history...had a dead battery about two months ago & Audi service had it towed about fifty miles to the dealership to get it replaced.
Now on to the problem...I did not hook up the remote turn on wire because the instructions said Basslink would turn on when the speakers got a signal. Got to enjoy it for a day then flew to Oregon to ski for the week.(Epic snow! great trip)--Get back to find...you guessed it, a dead battery.
Sooo...
I had already made an appointment for service the day after i got back,(warranty expires on Tuesday) It was too late for me to remove the power wire running to the battery so I just remove the fuse, jumped it & drove down Sunday night to drop off car. It's Sunday so they are closed & I leave key in drop box...write down all service to be performed but mention nothing of the fact that the battery is dead. MY theory is that either they just notice it is dead & replace it...OR...they actually look at my history & see they just replaced it two months ago & obviously this new Giant Red wire attached to the battery drained it & it is my problem. I think if they say anything I'll just beg & say this is the last time the service will be free so give me a little slack?? What would you do????
Also anyone know how much a battery is???
Thanks!
The one disappointment to me is that the battery discharge happened in the first place. Even a late model Ford Taurus has a 2-hour cutoff on accessory power so that something stupid like leaving a dome light on won't kill the battery. Maybe 2002 A4's have the nifty feature, but apparently the 2001 did not have it.
