225 intake manifold: Real answers! No more BS! :)
Well, what does that mean to you? It means you will have LESS piping than if you went back under the engine bay. Less piping, less pressure drop.
So for those who said it can't be done, it can. Want proof? Here is a picture of the ECS dual intercooler setup for the GOLF 1.8T.<img src="http://www.ecstuning.com/vwpartsfolder/18t%20esrintercooler%201.JPG"> If you look carefully, that is a 225 intake manifold with Eurospec engraved on there.
Want more proof? Call ECS tuning at (800) 924-5172 and ask for Tom. He had his share of people asking him the same exact question.
As for me, I'm going to buy a 225 intake manifold and a intercooler off of a semi truck(i'm serious). And custom the 2 tiny pipes that I need to get it to work. Wish me luck. Maybe I'll make a kit for us 180s to buy if there is enough interest
Have you checked into whether the throttle bodies are a correct port match?
The fuel rail may be OK as well as the supply lines.
The brake booster is no way going to work.
Good luck Jason and let us know!

No Sean, it bolts right on. You said that these things need to be done and it will cost more int he long run. There is some cutting needed to get the wrapping off the 180, but thats it. Who was the one that told you it need those things? Give ECS a call. They will tell you what is the correct info.
Now keep in mind this is JUST for bolting on the intake manifold and not everything the 225 has(like the top visable pipe or anything else). Just the 225 manifold.
A FMIC is possible using less piping, Sean.
I am simply saying that no amount of *unwrapping* is going to make the brake booster hose in the right position. So maybe that is the only part that needs replacing.
No one has ever told me that it could not be done, this is based on what I looked at. Calling ECS Tuning doesn't really help me either, while I think these guys have some cool stuff, I really dont know of them so who knows?
Please let us know how it works out, this would be great if it is not that expensive.
also, you said the throttle body is the same? I thought they were enlarged for the bigger manifold no? Anyone know?
There are also 2 companies with upgraded SMIC which look to be good alternatives pricewise (around $550) Forge is one, and I think Forced Performance is the other.

J, I'm not trying to discourage you, just trying to let u know it may not be a simple bolt on.
I think u may also have to extend some of the wires.
