So I got my first ticket for no front plate. What would happen if (more)
I just replaced the front piece with a drilled piece, had the sheriffs "OK" it, and then re-replaced the piece. Aside from the obvious possibility of running the risk of getting another ticket for the same offense, is there a risk in getting some bigger offense? (eg. pissing them off to find more?)
After 22k and 2 yrs, I haven't had a problem and I finally have one at WORK. The sheriffs at work usually don't inspect the parking lot and I have been lucky.

Since you're from California...
That's what I would do. I have actually just double-stick taped my plate on to the car and took it in for inspection. You have to use the license frame though to make it look nice. 80% of the time, considering how petty it is, they'll just sign it off with out even checking. I have had numerous tinted window violation throughout the years... Getting tickets signed off becomes a hassle but the courts get their twelve dollars anyway so what do they care?

I guess that would start to get pricey.. They are cracking down in the LA area...
I commute from Valencia to Burbank everyday and so far I've been lucky... (knock on wood)

last one I got was a pay it or fix it ticket...
I decided to just pay it and blow it off. Some suggested your idea with swapping front pieces, which would probably work fine (though might be a pain.)
