Default Pics of the TT and everything else, the photo contest and color printers..>>

With the photo contest going on and trying to get out and take some pictures of the TT with the ole digi camera, it got me thinking. I would really like to be able to print some of these pictures out on nice photographic paper. Anyone have any recommendations on a nice color printer for printing photos? Right now I am leaning towards the HP Photosmart series. Any thoughts or opinions?
It would be nice to start a photo album of the different Audi things we (the wife and I) do. Fun Runs, TT-East, etc.

Thanks!

Default I have a Canon s600...think there is a new model now...

but with glossy photopaper...it prints some amazing shots and its inkjet...was $200 at staples...i think you can get the new model and its reviews are just as good...the S600 was #1 for inkjet printers, photo prints, economy, speed and price when i bought it... www.cnet.com

Default Was the print quality on par of an actual photo?

$200 is around where I want to spend. I don't mind spending more but I just want something that is going to print as close to an actual photo as possible.

Default Epson 1280 is what I got...excellent/borderless prints/tabloid+/6 ink/assorted media

Check out the linked site for info on the printer for comparisons with other Epsons. I looked at the HP but the Epsons were just more compelling. My prints are as good or better than photos. Paper quality is great and there is more variety with Epson. I also purchased Stylus RIP software so I could get postscript 3 output for EPS or AI files for about $110. Printer should run about $499. I did not purchase through the link here but their prices look good especially with free shipping.<ul><li><a href="http://www.tssphoto.com/sp/dg/1280/">http://www.tssphoto.com/sp/dg/1280/</a</li></ul>

Default the quality you can get out of an Epson printer is

sometimes unbelievable - with a good quality 300dpi pic printed on Epson paper (the best!) on my Stylus Photo 890, I've had professional photographers visibly blanch when they see how good the quality really is. Just remember, no printer is going to make a web-sized image (say 600 pixels wide) look great when it's stretched out onto a letter sized sheet - in this area in particular, the saying is true: quality in, quality out!

At any rate, I've been using Epson for years, and HP doesn't come close.

Looks like Epson might be the way to go. Especially if they print better than photos! =)

Default Concur. Used both; the Epson 1200 dpi output was better than the HP 2400.

And the Epson had fewer software glitches by far.

Quality is great; I have a 5x8 (hi-res image, 2400 dpi print) on my desk right now that is undistinguishable from photo quality. It's that good. You may see some artifacts at a 11x17, but for most uses, Epson has been outstanding for me. HTH. Cheers!

Default Ok, looks like everyone says Epson....>>

Is the only difference between the Stylus Photo series print size and print area for the most part? Figure more money for more memory, but all look like they have the same print quality.
Thoughts, questions, opinions, political rebuttals?
