Any Ideas on how to eliminate some alternator noise?
Still trying to get pics of my stereo install to post on this site, hopefully soon. The slight problem I am having is that I have some alternator noise that varies with RPM in my stereo system. I am running stock head unit and changer to a JL audio amp, and replaced all speakers. The noise is there only when I play CD's, but not on the radio. Any Ideas? I know some of you have upgraded your systems, but kept the head unit and changer, Has this happened to you? how was it solved? would like to fix so I dont have to go aftermarket on head unit, Thanx

It's because of the lousy control signals from the CD changer to the H/U...
Not much you can do, except run a new set of RCA-type coax cables from the changer to the head unit.
The OEM audio portion of those cables are very small, and not shielded the best.
The problem is that the shielded cable for the audio-out of the changer is wrapped in along with the CD+, CD-, power and ground signals going to and from the changer.
Your new amp is now able to pick up this difference.
