Or, if they don't have NIC's, you can use a parallel printer cable, and go into Programs, then
Accessories, Communications, then Direct Cable Connection. Follow the instructions to set up one PC as the host and the other as the guest.

no NICs on either machine, so therefore I need em right?
Networking and stuff is'nt something I have had to do before but I have programs and software on the older machine that I want to transfer onto the newer office machine, and need to figure out how this is acheived,

Without NICs, you might try as Paul suggested. Another option is to burn a CD-ROM if you happen...
...to have a CD-ROM burner or even swap the hard drive from one to the other for a brief period. I believe you can also crossover connect the serial ports.
