Default TT armrest......................................$$ is there a quality difference or something? Or

Just a simple rip-off? no offence to anybody.

STRATMOSPHERE: arm rest with Stratmosphere Cupholder for TT Armrest ($350+$124 = $475)

http://www.tt-tuning.com/
Armrest AUDI TT + Cupholder
(incl. Tunnel plastic)

Kit Price $369,00

Has anyone tried one of these?

Default Stratmosphere has two support arms vs. the single

support arm offered at tt-tuning. Also, Strat uses the same leather as AUDI, not sure if tt-tuning does as well.

Default Strats come from here

http://www.tt-designparts.de/shop/index.php?s=ad7e9a4381926dc44e22d11c73cc7b4e&t=sho p

which are $226 US. plus shipping.

Strictly Foreign in the US also imports them from Dietrich Tuning and has them cheaper as well.

So we can get them for cheaper, rather than getting GOUGED by Stratmosphere?!!

Default Armrest info

I got my armrest this week from strictly foreign

$250 plus shipping (OEM baseball leather)

twin arm, excellent quality, perfect match

they are the distributor in the US for Dietrich who market the armrest on their website

however the armrest is manufactured by Design Parts GmbH in Germany

Their distributor in the US is TT Design Parts in NJ. When I called them they wanted $350 plus shipping.

However, the Design Parts distributor in the UK is the TTShop, they sell it for 199 pounds (about $284) plus shipping.

And of course Strat sells it for $350 plus shipping.

Are we all confused yet?

My comments after all this research are:

the Design Parts Armrest is very high quality and finish and is definitely OEM standard.

Strat sells it for $350, you can buy it from the same manufacturer, for less elsewhere with the same guarantees.

Analogy - would you buy a TT at MSRP from an Audi World sponsoring dealer or would you search out a deal regardless of the dealer?

I know I'm always gonna search for the best value for money.

I'm always being told competition is the American way!

And Strat sells it for $350 plus shipping, the same exact armrest?
