Can you test drive a Porsche?
What I mean is if you go to a dealer, and act fairly interested will they hand you the keys for a drive.
For some reason I have an real interest in the Boxster S and really want to take it for a test drive.

Her hubby's brand spanking new Boxster S might be on the block. Don't ask to drive her 911, though... she hasn't even let me drive it yet 
I'm sure you should have no problem at a dealer if you drive up you your TT. They might make you come back on a different day, though.

I think you'd have a good chance of driving a Boxster.
...Especially if you show up in your TT. I'm sure it depends on the dealer, but they would probably rather you test drive a Boxster than a Carrera.

One thing I do to alleviate the "look at this kid who isn't serious/can't afford" attitude is
I call ahead, express my interest, make sure they have a tester on the lot, and exchange names with the salesman. That way they will take me more seriously when I arrive, and they can't use an excuse such as "oh, we don't have X on the lot."

I test drove a Boxster (actually two) before buying the TT. Outside of Hondas (of which I'm not a fan), don't most people drive a car at least once before they buy it?

She played games with the salesmen. She went in wanting to trade her '85 Buick something or other, which was in terrible condition, and she was wearing shorts and an old T-Shirt.
Nobody would give her the time of day, except the new guy that was desperate to make his commissions or whatever. He at least pretended to take her seriously, took her for a test drive, and she bought it right then and there... paid MSRP, by cashier's check.
Always thought that was a funny story.
But to back up what others have said, when shopping for any big ticket item, I drive the TT. Been looking at houses and boats lately, and it's amazing how different I get treated when I pull up in a TT vs the 4Runner
