Default Larry...Boost and GIAC Stage II question

Larry,

Saw your response to my post from 225TQ a few days back. I have two questions for you.

1. Is there anyway to tell a Stage I from a Stage II. When I bought my chip I was told that it was a Stage II...in fact they said that was the only 180 program. I already had my Borla. The place I bought it from never struck me as all that knowledgeable anyways. Now that you mention that you have the Stage II and are holding at 1.15 bar (~16psi) with 18+ peaks I am starting to wonder.

2. What sort of Vacuum do you see at idle (with and without A/C on). I am sure I have always seen 20" even with A/C on and 24" after throttle lift off while driving. In the last few days though I am getting 18-19" with A/C on and 20" with it off. Also I am only seeing 22-23" at throttle lift-off. Is this consistent with what you are seeing...AutoMeter Boost Gauge

Thanks,

Default answers . . .

I will be confirming my boost numbers and rehooking the gauge up tomorrow as well.

I had the original chip from Garrett for the 180TTQ, then I got the 7th install of the Stage II chip. The Stage Chip was done to take advantage of an exhaust and I believe has just outright replaced the original chip.

At idle I am seeing around 23/24" HG. Never really noticed any difference with A/C.

I am also running an AutoMeter Gauge teh 30-30 variety, not the 30-20.

Where do you have your gauge connected to the vacuum end in the engine? Mine is currently at teh DV< but don't like it and am moving it for a direct connection to the manifold. Will post pics once it is done.

Default Connected to the line to the FPR with a brass T fitting.

Maybe the difference is the placement location....we'll see, let me know.

BTW I am using the AutoMeter 3301.
