more home theater upgrade questions...
any thoughts on the integra 9.1 receiver (as opposed to seperates -- note that i won't be using the tuner much, if at all)? i want cleaner power and good sound quality for tv, dvd's and either sacd or dvd-a. is there anything besides the outlaw audio 950 that provides true bass managment for the analogue 5.1 input?
i'm also thinking about getting the pioneer elite dvd 47-a to get progressive scan dvd along with both dvd-a and sacd.
and for a new monitor, either the pioneer elite pro-7200hd or the sony grand vega kf-60dx100. i like the brightness and clarity of the large lcd screen, but i'm concerned about contrast. would i get true blacks and whites? the pioneer is about $1500 more (although it is 64" vs 60").

I've been looking at the Rotel RSP-1066.
It is a little more than the 950, but seems to be in the same class. I'm not entirely sure about how the bass management works on the 1066, but I'm pretty sure it is comparable to the 950.
Sounds like you are having some fun IN the house as opposed to in the garage. :-)

we'd have to do a standup unit instead of a hanging projector...
but it's something i will look into...the good front projectors typically cost more (much more) than the good rear projectors or the good LCDs (although not more than the good plasma screens -- that may be the upgrade in 5-10 years!).
the rotel has gotten good reviews, as has the integra (so has the outlaw!).

Directly from PS Audio. It's actually called the Power Plant and I have the P-600.
Cost for the P-600 is about $2k, but it's some of the best money you'll ever spend on your rig.

any reason to get the p-600 instead of the p-300 (besides $1k)?...
would they also take the place of my surge protector?
i love the (2-channel) sound of your system...how noticable is the sound difference if you take the p-600 out of the loop? maybe i can come over some time and we could do some listening tests?

The P-300 is probably fine for your system. The P-600 is overkill for my current system, but I..
...bought it to support a future amp upgrade. Come over any time and we can do a listen test. It VERY noticable.

My DSP-A3090's left channel is on the fritz. I've been planning on upgrading my 2-channel setup downstairs, but now that the audio's going on the HT I may have to adjust my priorities. :-)
Come to think of it. I could move my A3090 downstairs and use it with my monoblocks. That would solve the amp channel problem. Then I would just need to get an new system for upstairs! ;-)
I'm still on the list for the 950, but they are having problems getting them put together at this point. Some of the units are coming off the line with a hiss problem. It isn't every one, but they aren't shipping at this point.
This might be the start of a complete system upgrade. I'm thinking of ordering an Outlaw 770. I only need 5 channels now, but this would give me the room for an upgrade to more speakers as well. :-) And of course I'll still need a new processor for upstairs. Hmm. :-)
See, I don't have a TT anymore so I need to find something to modify! ;-)
