Here is my latest mod.
To my bicycle, of course. 
Speedplay X-2 pedals...excellent upgrade. They seem to give a real biomechanical advantage over some of the other clipless pedals. Tons of movement available vs. fixed clipless and that takes some getting used to.

very elegant Dave. Have you thought about.......
putting up a "fence" (a 'sight-block' of sorts) on the left of this pic where you can see under the other deck (?)... if made of that same red cedar, that would look quite nice, i think... also isolate your deck a bit from the rest of the ground level area. just a thought.

It's in the works Nancy. I have a load of Delaware gravel sitting on my driveway and I have to...
..grade under the deck area and put stone down before I proceed with the rest of the plan. When I'm done, that whole area under the deck will be isolated from the patio. Everything just takes time (which I don't have) and money.
