Default Anyone here have a portable GPS unit?

I've been looking into the Garmin GPS V and the Street Pilot III. Any pros/cons for owners? Are the Magellan products worth taking a look at?

Thanks!

Default I have the Street Pilot III...Only one I've ever owned for a car...But it's got a nice size

color LCD on the front...and it'll give you voice commands for routes. I like it alot.

You can D/L maps and routes from your PC. It runs for 4-6 hours off of batteries or the cigarette lighter.
I have the mount on the dash just to the right of the long vents.

Default I've found a few places selling it for $650+ish...

At almost double the cost, do you think it's worth the premium over the Garmin V?

Default For me it was...It came with the 128MB card, so I could get in all the map and routes I needed for

that drive...without having to go back to the PC.
It was compatible with a set of Map CD's I already had.

Which means I didn't have to slog around my laptop and CD's.

Besides, I'm a gadget freak...I could get it in color and it talks to me... :-)

I'm sure the GPS V would be great for a more normal person...

Default I have a Garmin III+, it's small but works equally well

in the car or bike... I think they run about $300. you can download routes to the GPS with a PC cable, It works on batteries or direct 12V..

Very accurate

Default Re: I have the Magellan 330. Very handy and portable.

It was the only visible indicator I had during my drive down to TT-East.
