Drove an S4 "ottinger" and an S4 Avant Tip this weekend
Went to visit a friend this weekend, who happens to be the finance manager for an audi dealer. He let me test drive a couple s4's, since i'm thinking of trading in my 225ttc.
The "ottinger" s4 looked cool, and had a bigger looking exhaust tip. however, my friend said it wasn't really modded (no chip)...i'm not sure what ottinger is all about. Anyway, the car is fast, definitely quicker than my TT, but not by an overwhelming amount. (at least not on city streets, 0-70 max) Its quickness is tempered somewhat by gear throws that seem twice as long as those in the tt. no wonder short shifters are so commonly discussed on the s4 board. I felt like the shift should have been done when i reached neutral- but that was only half way.
I also drove an avant tip. That thing moves pretty good too. I didn't really like the tip feature...the car seemed to go better in drive- just floor it and hold on. The avant also felt better than the s4, one of the salesman said it's got better weight distribution.
Both cars are nice, but i wouldn't chose either over my tt.
