Default So, even though I have the Forge 007P valve on the way, I put some washers in my DV006....

...last evening just for the hell of it. First off, I found out that standard 1 3/8" washers were too small for the aluminum piston, so I went back out and picked up some 1 1/2" washers that then had to be ground down a little to make them fit. I drilled a hole in the end of a dowel and mounted all of the washers together on the dowel with a screw so I could grind them all at the same time. Once I got them to fit, I relubed the valve and reassembled it.

I was pleasantly surprised with the very subtle change. The first thing I noticed was that the car is slightly less surgy and smooth all the way to red line. Before this mod, the car would surge off the line, flatten out, and then drop off around 5500 RPM. This seems to have flattened the whole power curve off a little. I'd like to take some VAG recordings to see if there are any differences in the torque curve between washers in and washers out.

So, was this my imagination? Hmmm...

Default You are only imagining the same thoughts I had after this mod.

I find that my driving has been better.
Read=quicker off the line, and a very nice ride up to redline when I push it.

Default You might want to pick some up. I bought 4, but they are only 1mm washers, I think, and I only...

...have 2 in right now. I may add the other two to try shimming it a little more.

Default Hmmm, 1 3/8" washers must be bigger here in the south......

because mine worked just fine, had a small gap on each side, but not enough to worry about.....

To answer your question, it is not your imagination. My results were exactly the same as yours....

Default The gap was too large for my taste. Almost 1/8" and when I tested the spring by....

....moving it around a little, it had a tendancy to drop down into the gap. I just felt more comfortable with the entire thing being filled up and it only took about an extra 20 minutes to accomplish.

Default what you said... and smoother.

Interesting though, did a pressure test with the DV and the piston does open up croaked ie watching the piston move inward/open, it does not pull in straight. But I think it did that before
