6 flats in 20 years and 700,000 miles.. 3 within a 5 mile radius?
He drove it from Seattle to Ohio and took a short break. His pride forced him to park the car with trailer attached in a very short driveway. When he left for the trip to NY, he backed the mast of the boat INTO the car parked in the driveway across the street. He didn't even realize he did it. :-) He just left. He never admitted that he could have done it. It was quite the sore spot between my grandparents for a few years. The neighbors, well, we won't go into what they thought of it.
My father drove the boat from NY to Maine where we donated it to a summer camp we are affiliated with. I was driving a car behind the trailer most of the way. We got to the summer camp and parked it on the grass for the maintenance man to get it. The baot needed a few things done to it before going back in the water. Well, before the guy could hook start hauling it away, a wheel fell off the trailer axle! Apparently, my grandfather never had the trailer overhauled before he started the journey! Oops
After hearing about the neighbor's car, we never had the heart to tell him he almost killed his grandson driving the car behind a trailer that was about to fall apart.
