Default Question on snows...

I've never bought true snow tires before. Would you guys suggest 16" or 17" wheels/tires? I'll probably be getting Dunlop M2 or Blizzak LM-22 tires. Any favorite cheapy wheels out there (I prefer not to get steel wheels)?

Default smaller and narrower is better for snows - go for 16" if you can

but if you don't find a good match, 17" is OK.
if you check out www.discounttiredirect.com, they have Audi 6-spoke replicas in 16", not too expensive.
Or go to www.tirerack.com, they have lots to choose from.

Default What tire size is recommended?

What tire size would be used in going with a 16" snow tire. I don't want to go so narrow it looks like 4 spare tires, but definately want it to handle decent.

Default I had very limited experience with mine, but I liked them...so does

TireRack and some of their other customers -- read about them here:<ul><li><a href="http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Dunlop&amp;tireModel=Winter+Spo rt+M2&amp;vehicleSearch=fals">WinterSport M2's</a></li></ul>

Default 16" Dunlop M2s - the smaller wheel gives you...

more tire so you have a little softer ride and a little more traction. I have the black steelies for that stealth look!

I've been very happy with the Blizzaks, using the stock 17" wheels

Default Had 16" Borbet wheels for winter....they are reasonable and

held up beautifully. Tirerack offers a few styles.

Default I have these. Used them last winter. Only a few heavy snowfalls around here but they worked great!

I was blowing by SUVs. They handle fairly well on the dry pavement too.
