Is a chip, intake and clutch enough to beat an RX-7???
I guess it was today. Had some fun with a last generation RX7. After playing cat and mouse through lanes we both ended up lined up next to each other at a stoplight. 1st gear he was neck and neck... 2nd I pull ahead about half a car and the real shocker was when 3rd hit. It looked as if he just quit because I pulled ahead so much. We raced several times after that from light to light with the same results until finally he gave me the thumbs up and went about his business.
Funny I had figured RX7's were much quicker than this. Could his car maybe be running like crap? I've read RX7 rotaries aren't very reliable after about 60,000 miles.
Oh well fun race anyway!

I had a second gen RX7 that did 230K miles on the original engine. I wish my TT would do half of that.
3'rd generation RX7 are know to be very unreliable. When I considered getting one instead ot the TT, my local rotary expect mechanic told me not to touch it.

I had the same experience a couple of times with 3rd generation RX-7s..
They were both stock, but on the freeway I could easily pull away from them. They're nice cars until the Apex seals go.
