Default how is the audi tt roadster ability to withstand the common car crash

How is the roadsters ability to withstand the avg car crash. Everybody thinks that because it is a smaller car that it will crush easily. Simple phsyics says this. Did AUDI compensate for this in its engineering?

Default 5 star rating should tell you something.....best in class

There have been many stories of wrecks with TT's where the owners escaped with nary a scratch

Default No, I can't say I have...just what I have heard through the 3 years of ownership

And various car articles...

This is the reason they are so heavy...

Weight is an important variable in car crashes, and the TT has plenty of that.

Default Very good - read more

An airport van hit me. The van ran a stop sign running at about 45 mph, according to witnesses. I was T-boned on the passenger side. I had a passenger in the passenger seat at the time. His face was 3" away from the grill of the van. I have got to tell you, I was blasted.

THE BOTTOME LINE IS, THIS CAR IS A TANK. I have to believe it is as safe if not safer than the best sedans. I am not exaggerating. Some of the reasons I think the car absorbed this impact so well is, the design of the frame, the door height, and the door penetration bar. For a roadster it was very reassuring. Door height I believe saved my friends life. If I was in a Z3 or boxter I believe this would have been far worse. Not withstanding that both of these car are great. But they are lower from the side. If I were in a Z3 I surely would have had the van in my lap.

I wish I knew how to upload a picture of the accident. I took digital photos at the scene. I think you would be surprised at how it held up. Bottom line: No frame damage, and no one was hurt. We were a little stiff, but fine. This is great news in a convertible. This car is tough.

E-mail me if you want a copy of the photo.

One down side: This car is expensive to repair, very expensive. His insurance paid for everything but it was quite a bill. That is why the collision on this car is so high.

Default post the pics here please...more

uploading pics to your picture poster is fairly easy. There is a link at the top of your page that says 'Post Picture'. Click that and then click the 'Upload New Picture' link and select the file(s) from your computer. I'm sure people here would like to see the pics you're talking about....
