Tire Warranty?
Hey Folks,
Do the Bridgesotne Potenza RE040 tires that came on the 01 TTR 225 come with a mileage warranty?
My rear tires are completely shot, but the fronts still have a lot of tread (which seems odd, since the TT is supposed to be mostly front drive). One of the rears went flat today with the belts showing on the inner edge. The other is pretty bald as well.
I was thinking there must be an allignement issue (toe?) to produce such disparity of wear front-to-rear, but maybe I just got some bad tires...
I'm going in for service tomorrow (30K) and just wondered if I should try for any warranty relief.
Any thoughts?

Your kidding, right?......
30K out of (so called) performance tires is more than anyone should expect. Sounds like you should have rotated them more frequently if you wanted more. Personally, I'd be happy with 20K out of a good tire. Remember, the harder they are the further they go. Do you value mileage or handling?

I definitely value handling more than mileage... I just don't have much sense of how long these things should last.
So anything beyond 20K is good. Cool.

Wow, I'm luckier than I thought :-).
So why does a car that is "mostly front drive" wear out the rear tires so much more quickly than the fronts?
And I'm putting in my order for S03s today.

Of course, now that I think about it...
I do use snow tires several months, so the mileage on the 040s is prob'ly more like 20k miles. Still not outrageous though.
On the fronts the tread depth is probably 150% of the wear bars.
The Audi guys are going to check it out tomorrow and see if they can find a reason for the disparity.
