Time for new tires. Any opinions?? (2001 TTQR)

Well the 2001 TTQR OEM tires (Potenza RE040) are just about worn enough to need replacement.

Does anyone have any input or opinions on the tires they chose to put on their quattro?

I'm still running with the stock 5 spoke 17" wheels.

I'd like to stick around $150 +/- $20 per tire. I really am not very happy with the RE040's. They do pretty well, but are not worth $170. The BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW-2 looks like a sweet tire, but just how noisy is noisy. All the reviews say they love the wet and dry handling, but hate the noise.
