thinking of buying a car that's 4-5hours away from me...question for you guys!

I emailed a guy regarding a 2001 tt for sale for 22000. basically i just told him i'm not comfortable buying sight unseen- I'm thinking of calling him, negotiating on the phone a price, and then giving a refundable deposit over the phone, and if everything else is as expected, then i'd purchase car for price that's negotiated. if not, then i'd get my deposit back....i hope he goes for it-

anyways, here is his reply- does he seem like a good guy?

"Hi,
My name is Jim. My phone is xxx-xxx-xxxx. Please feel free to call me. I would actually like you to call me because I will be able to elaborate on all of your questions.
The car is really flawless. It is carfax certified. The report does not show any accidents. I have looked and gone through the car. There is no overspray anywhere. you can view what my customers had to say about me and what cars have they bought on my website. You will see a 2003 Audi RS6 for 79000$, sight unseen, 2003 BMW X5 4.4 for 48000$ never seen the car before, 2001 BMW X5 4.4 for 36000$ without ever seeing the car out of CA, 2000 Volvo V70 XC 18000$ sight unseen........
I can go on and on. One thing about me is I AM VERY HONEST AND UPFRONT.

I'd be OK with a SMALL deposit but you should take a

Vag-Com tool with you and thouroughly check out the car before you buy it. The price sounds pretty decent, but I don't trust anyone selling cars - especially used TT's.
