Default Should I use synthetic oil or not on a 180TT FWD or any TT?
would there be any harm if I used 5w30 regular oil?

In any car I'd use synthetic, especially w/ a turbo.

Synthetic oil is more sludge resistant and holds up to high heat better than dinojuice.

I use synthetic oil in everything I own. TTR, boat, bike, truck etc...

Default If you are paying, yes.
I let the dealer put in regular oil with my warranty-covered services, since it was paid for. But now that I am out of warranty and paying for my own oil, I put in synthetic.

The high heat produced by a turbo will decrease, by damaging the molecules of natural oil, the viscosity (sliperyness) of natural oil. Synthetic oil has been altered to better buffer the affects of high heat. It is most definitely worth the price of Amsoil, Red Line or Mobil 1.
