Thinking of another Audi, maybe TT, need help please
Can my 12 year old fit in the backseat of a coupe?
Are the TT engines reliable. General question, I know.
Is the transmission strong?
Should I get a TT?
I haven't heard of many problems with the engine. The transmission on the 225 hp and the 180 hp quattro (not available anymore) is good, but there have been problems with the 5-spd manual transmission on the FWD 180s. I don't know about automatics and the DSG is too new to say either way.
I am looking forward to the 6th gear more than the extra 45 hp.
A 12 year old will not fit comforatbly. Heck, our 8 year old does't fit, sitting upright, anymore. If the 12 year old is willing to lay across the back, he/she would probably fit,, but it is not a comfy ride. If you need to haul 3 people more than 10 minutes, it is awful back there. I have found it more comfortable to move the passenger seat all the way back and have both passengers sit in the front seat, not very legal, but way more comfortable on the way to daycare.
I am 6'1" and have ridden in the back by folding down the seats and laying down. Once, we even squeezed 2 adults back there, good thing they were brothers, we had to kinda stack 'em, I couldn't even see out the back window, but we made it.
So, riding in the back can be done, but i would recommend against it for anyone over 4 feet tall, strongly.
If you don't need the third person capacity, it is a wonderful car, It has a lot of room (for two), I can fit 8 - 10 bags of groceries in it,,, but I got an A6 to haul the family around,,, the TT is a 2 person car.
