2006 Audi TT News (from Wheels24)

The next generation Audi TT, which will be ready sometime next year, will grow in size offering more interior space. We have more info of this popular Audi sports car.
According to Auto Express the new Audi TT will have a wider track and an extended wheelbase.
Insiders say that the 2005 TT will keep a lot of the current model's styling cues, but it will also take some of the Le Mans concept car's design trends.
Auto Express reports that at the front the TT will get Audi's new corporate grille, while the remodelled rear will see the prominent spoiler incorporated into the bodywork. The rear-lights will be similar to that of the A8.
The car is based on the new VW Golf platform and it will offer more interior space, while a large glass area will make the cabin brighter.
The 1.8T model will be replaced with a hi-tech 2.0 FSI engine. The top of the line models will feature Audi's quattro all-wheel drive system and the 3.2 V6 model will get a DSG gearbox.
However the biggest news is that Audi engineers are working on a hot 260kW turbo-charged TT RS model.
It is expected that the new TT coupé will make its appearance at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show while the roadster version will go on sale in 2006.
Let's hope that Audi doesn't make the same error. If I need more room, I'll buy an A4, A6 or A8. If Audi wants to improve the TT, don't increase its size; increase its HP, handling and braking capabilities. If I were an Audi Engineer I'd be looking for ways of making the Audi lighter and faster. The TT is a luxury sports car, not a luxury coupe.
Warning to Audi: when you try to make a car appealing to everyone, you end up with a car that appeals to no one. Keep in mind the market for which you designed the TT, and don't try to capture other market segments with the same car.

...of the new TT, which is currently undergoing cold weather testing. The bad news is that fuel mileage is expected to diminish substantially. The good news is that we can now drive *over* Boxsters and Z4s, and curb rash is less of a concern.
