Default I can't get headlights apart!!!! :(

I'm using a hair dryer... its all I have. My other option is to stick them in the oven for a couple of minutes (at 150ish)

what should I do??? keep at it with the dryer or try the oven? I deffinately don't want to melt or break anything! Do all the bulbs have to come out if they go in the oven? I've got the parking and blinker out to be painted.

Default oven lowest setting for 5mins according to Axel

myself (was one of the 1st ever to take them apart) pried them open with a screwdriver (NOT recommended)

Over lowest setting for 5mins and you'll be fine - you're just trying to loosen up the poxy stuff

Default I used a screwdriver also but it was a hot TX day when I did mine.

I don't know about the oven, sounds risky! :-)

Default Did you take the black retaining clips off? Four of them.

they are black & will pop off never to be seen again so hold your hand on them while putting a little screwdriver under them.

If you do decide to stick them in the oven, don't leave them in there for over 3-5min.

Default More...

Try keeping the blow dryer close to one spot. The goo is very thick & stiff. Is it above 50 degrees where you are? If not do it inside.Getting them started is a PITA.I got it started with the thin screwdriver & as I got a tiny opening then used a thicker one.The lense is a very thick plastic like material & can take alot of punishment. You don't have to worry about it cracking like glass. Also make sure you are separating in the right place . Between the clear plastic & black housing. Ok ,take a deep breath don't panic & try again. They do come apart once started not easy though.

Default the top mounting points are very thin and are subject to warping from .....

the heat. when the headlamps are mounted in the car this is not an issue due to how they are mounted, but in the oven... well.

Fortunately when i did mine the first time, i watched them while in the oven and that's when i noted this. i have put other headlamps in the oven (high school days; late 80s) so i was aware to look for such things before hand.

Hope this helps
