Default Mounting a Garmin iQue 3600 GPS and a constant power source...

<center><img src="http://www.garmin.com/products/iQue3600/gallery/pt-iQue01large.jpg"></center><p>I just purchased an iQue 3600 Palm GPS unit and I would like to mount it in a good location. Something like a suction cup system on the window would be nice, any suggestions?

I would also like to be able to route power to it from the fuse box instead of using the 12V power next to the ashtray. How can I do this?

Default How much did you pay for it?

Thing I didn't get is that most decent systems, you're better off getting a standalone GPS unit.

Default $500 with the car nav kit...Only had it for a day, but I like it alot.

Plus, if I don't like it...I bought it from costco, so I can always return it (they have the best return policy)

Default I think in the storage compartment

or the flip-down compartment (where the cigarette lighter is) would be cool. Discrete is cool :-)

Default I have a window mount for my Axim (CF GPS)...

mounted to the left. Sits in a nice spot for visibility and works well.

The window mount is a suction cup with a 8" arm attached to an Akron universal mount.

Default Do you know about this site? -->

<a href="http://www.pdastreet.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=108">iQue Forum</a>

(In thinking about replacements for my allroad, I've become a TT wannabe, so I'm lurking about over here. I installed my iQue in my allroad using a custom approach that I don't think will work in TTs because of the different dash design. My allroad's in for its 60K service all day today, but I'll take a couple of pictures and start another thread linked to this one tomorrow.) HPH

Default run the cable along the front dash of the drivers side, then to the fuse box. Remove the lower dash

to get at the fuse box.
There is constant +12V there. Use a fuse on a short piece of wire from the fuse box to the input of the Garmin

Default Careful. The Garmin needs its voltage converter...

...that's build into the cigaretter lighter plug. HPH
