Default Do me a huge favour, convince me to buy a 3.2 TTc.

Convince me please.

About a month ago, I test drove a Brilliant Black, loaded 3.2TT. Coming from an E46 M3, I was surprised how much I liked it.

Mind you, I didn't prefer it over the M3, but at the time, the financial savings were enough to tip the scales in favour of the Audi.

However, now I am having second thoughts. I don't want to settle, and I really like the TT. Currently, I am considering the TT 3.2C, an E46 M3C, Porsche Boxster S, and a slightly used Mercedes CLK55 (though this car doesn't do much more than the others, so it is a long shot).

Is there anyone that has experience with the cars above (paging Meem!) that can offer constructive advice? I'm 6' 3" so I have to fit. I will be leasing the car (business advantages).

Please help...

Default Well if you like to stand out, then the TT is the way to go!!! read on...

BMW's are everywhere. I barely turn my head at one anymore. Mercedes...who can tell them apart anymore. Must be that Chrysler influence. Boxster's are everywhere too!! CLK55 is a nice fast car, but like I said, do you really want to be driving what everyone else has?? Boring! Go with the TT. I absolutely love my car, and even though it's been around a while, it still turns heads because it's different. BMW's are for the masses! Mercedes has lost it's luster. TT's are for people who set themselves apart from the masses. You should fit!

Default Advice after 1500 miles in a TT 3.2 DSG Coupe...

It is difficult for *us* to give advice to someone about buying a car that is right for you.

What I can say about the TT 3.2C.

Coming from an S4 daily driver and a 400+HP Cobra Mustang,
-I love the solid German fit and finish of Audi
-I love the DSG action (crisp, smooth and more entertaining to drive than the 6 spds I drove)
-I love the Interior/Exterior Design of the TT (classic and sporty)
-I love the suspension and ride (again sporty and refined)
-I wanted AWD for the winter (otherwise, I may have considered a certified, pre-owned Carrera)
-However, when push comes to shove, I greatly value buying new over getting the "deal" on a pre-owned vehicle.

-I notice the TT is quick off the line, but the bi-turbos of the S4 pull harder at speed. The TT has enough speed for me to have fun w/out getting into trouble. That was so easy to do with a 400+ HP stang.
-I notice the TT, with its sportier theme, does not feel quite as *polished* as the S4.
-I am about 5'10" and getting in and out of the TT takes more effort than the S4 mainly because of the wider sill and low hung C-Line body shape, but this is the price paid (ergonomics) for a sports coupe versus a sedan. However, once in the TT, there IS quite a bit more head room and the seat adjustments should give you plenty of comfortable positions.

Hope that provided some requested insight.

Great! Thanks for the insight.

My primary concern is the handling of the 3.2. Beyond that, I'd like to see it with 300 bhp, but it has enough as it is.

Does anyone else have similar experience?

Default Handling on the 3.2 is excellent, better than my S4 with coilovers and a swaybar.

The 300 lbs. difference in weight along with the shorter wheelbase, help a great deal. However, it goes beyond that.

I test drove the TT225 and TT32 back to back multiple times over a week period. I did notice the 3.2 felt like the better handling with a more solid feel and less roll than the 225. Granted, this was on city streets running at about 6/10. However, I may have also been influenced by reading that the dampeners and springs were tuned stiffer for better performance and the swaybars diameters were increased as well to reduce roll.
You won't be disappointed with the handling. I may go to coil-overs to eliminate some of the wheelwell gap. The car sits about .75"-1" too high for me.

Coilovers!?!?!

My understanding was that no one made any. Do you know of any? I think that you may have single handedly erased all issues that I had.

Cheers!
